Don't get lost in the madness

The Holidays are here!

It is a time where I find many including myself,  with to-do lists, scattered brains and later bed times.

In all of that, I encourage you not to get lost in that madness. 

Take time to stop and recall the reason for the season! Open your heart to ways of sharing never explored.

Give back! Hold the door open for someone, do something anonymous!

I was watching Channel 12 news and this story caught my attention:

An anonymous person entered a Kmart Lay-a-way center and asked the employee to please pull up THREE random receipts of persons whom still had yet to pick up their lay-a-way.

This anonymous person, paid off the receipt balances and left no name! Just a scribbled 

"HAPPY HOLIDAYS!" on their paid receipts!

 The very  SENTIMENT of such a selfless act had a grand effect on my heart! 

It does not take much for this world to be a better place!

All you have to offer is your SELFLESSNESS!

Your own contribution in any way you can to brighten the "tiny space" you take up in this world!

I have no idea how much those receipts totaled but I can tell you that it does not matter and it may have been minimal but the receiver of such a paid receipt will surely be touched! Perhaps, even be brought closer to the belief that GOD does use others to heal, help and soften their own hearts!

This anonymous person did not get lost in the Holiday madness. They thought of others and humbly gave of themselves.

Do you have to go pay off someones Lay-a-way?  No, that is not the message I am trying to convey. 

I am trying to convey that you worry less, enjoy more! Focus on the humble things, make the HOLIDAYS the best of where you are with what you HAVE! Certainly strive to see the countless BLESSINGS of a new DAY, a new MINUTE, a new SECOND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then share your BEST smile and open heart with others!

May you continue to enjoy your HOLIDAY season:)

In this Place

In this place...

There has been pain.

There have been tears.

A fire has burned.

Death has knocked on the doors of this place and tried to make pain a permanent home here.

A dark cloud looms over always ready to pour out a storm at any sign of weakness.

But, in this place, there is comfort.

There is security.

There is a presence of  GOD.

There is FAITH that started as the tiniest seed and has evolved into an endless supply.

There is forgiveness, humility, compassion and positivity.

There are memories of loved ones gone that have soothed the pain.

There are new walls where the fire burned.

There are new memories within that float about.

There are footsteps of lives as they unfold and people who found themselves; who found their purpose.

There is silence that encourages one to speak with GOD.

There is beauty in all of its surroundings.

There are HOPES, DREAMS, and WISHES made here.

There have been  mistakes that created opportunities for enrichment, growth and important lessons learned.

In this place, there is discovery.

There is anything you need.

In this place, LIFE is not measured in the quantity, or the minutes,
 rather in the quality and the vision of all things good, all things GODLY.

In this place, hate is not allowed.

In this place everyone is taught that no matter the opinions of others we are all crafted in  uniqueness
by GOD and we are all capable of making this world a positive place.

In this place, is where you will find peace, where you can hear your inner voice clearly and feel your spirit bursting to SOAR as your intended too...

This place, it can be within you. This place can be whatever place you choose!

Yes, I was watching Fox 5 news today and she was on one of their segments.

Easy inspiration, I know but here is the deal...On this blog, and on my FB page, that is my GOAL...BRING to YOU inspirational, motivational, positive  STUFF!

Some I create entirely on my own but majority of my posts are inspired by someone or something!

Back to Erin Brockovich.

What crosses your mind the minute you open your eyes from your sleep?

I woke up today and claimed that today, I look on with conviction towards my future. I own it, all of it: My thoughts, my life, my circumstances and I am fully responsible for how this day will transpire.

I do not walk alone! Each of my steps, they are guided and protected! It is up to me to keep them that way! Everything is outlined and therefore, I need not panic over things that are beyond my control.

What crossed your mind the minute you awoke from your sleep today?

Many people wake up each day but how many are really AWAKE? How many continue their day "sleeping"?

Claim your day the minute you wake up:) 

Give THANKS! 

Know that GOD gave you this day as a GIFT! 

A priceless gift! 

LIVE it! 

Don't allow ANYTHING to claim that opportunity from the moment you opened your eyes!

You will notice eventually that once you claim and own all of your thoughts and actions, LIFE, it can be POSITIVE, it can have a meaningful PURPOSE that will come naturally because GOD only made ONE of  -YOU-!

Don't acquire the "I hate" mentality.

It is most easy to acquire an I "hate" you attitude towards someone, something or a certain type or group of people. As humans we have all fallen short at one time or another, we have all felt the seed in our heart if even for a moment. The true winner in life is not the man who "hates" the most or the man who has the most conflict and won...It is the man who wore a humble heart, who found love within and allowed others in, the man who has no prejudices, the man who can forgive, the man who can FORGET, the man who can lead by example.
People say, "practice what you preach!"
I give credit to those who preach! because in them, are the humble hearts, that recognize their errors and truly try to forgive and forget. They are human; they are going to fall short too; The one who says, "practice what you preach!" -beware of- for they are using the simple phrase to pass judgement, they are the ones who are watching secretly at the sidelines waiting eagerly to watch you fail...to point out your flaws all the while having missed their own.

This one has been on my FB page. Now it's time to get it on the BLOG.

Over the summer, life changes were at an all time high.
August alone proved to be a month filled with events that will make for a promising book one day!

One favorite encounter was meeting a vivacious six-year-old.
This six-year-old had a song down loaded onto their  DS.

The song seemed to be quite silly. However, the vivacious six-year-old knew all of the words and sang them passionately while also dancing to every beat. I can remember hearing the words "Waka Waka!" and thinking to myself, "what is a 'Waka Waka'?" and, "why is Shakira singing this?, Is it a song for children only?"
After several times of witnessing this, I found myself singing along. I did not know all of the lyrics but I was starting to comprehend that this song was more that just "Waka Waka."
I did my research on these lyrics, hence my love for the song.

For the past few weeks, I have greatly appreciated being introduced to this song!
It is a song with lyrics that can uplift, motivate, inspire and make you smile as well. Shakira's got the entire package. This song,  'WAKA WAKA (This Time for Africa)' and the cause for the song just put her on my: Positive Celebs list!

The song released April of 2010 and was featured as the  FIFA World Cup 2010 official song. 


I proudly highlight the good cause behind this song as well:

That day brought pain. The images of the attack brought despair. Re-living these events yearly via those images or painful documentaries can leave one feeling sullen, depressed.

*Choose to honor our heroes*

 Celebrating who they are!

Celebrate their positive attributes.

Vow to be a better you because you are still here. Thank them for taking their call with bravery; thank them because they have touched your heart.

Their non-existence is the reason we should realize how precious our very breath of life this moment is. Honor them because you still have a LIFE that you can live MEANINGFULLY.

Because you can still make this world a better world. Honor them by making an effort to touch at least one person's life daily be it a child, stranger, adult, elderly...

More importantly,

do NOT discriminate against people of ANY kind! Living in AMERICA should make us proud.

PROUD that we can walk side by side one another.  Humbly knowing that day, we were all struck with sadness & heart aches. And the people who were not saddened are not GODLY. Anger, rage over the attacks, & discrimination, do not allow your heart to beat PEACEFULLY;

 Does not allow our heroes to rest peacefully.

Make peace with yourself knowing that GOD has a handle on ALL that is EVIL!

I personally know someone who worked at ground zero for several days. This person was issued an honorable service bar and letter of recognition. Although, this person's life was forever changed by the images of those days, this person has lived humbly, respectfully and continues to remain committed to helping others every oppurtunity they get.

She asked for just a few more minutes and received a few more hours!

A short read with a true message:


A young beauty awakes  @ 6:00 am and is faced with the challenges of the day ahead.
Already in a rush, feeling drained and scurried the minute her feet touch the floor in the morning, she pauses and prays. 
She thinks, "If only, I just had a few more minutes to conquer this task or have a freshly brewed cup of coffee to drink while basking in today's new possibilities!"
Suddenly, she realizes, that today is FRIDAY and on FRIDAY she does not start working until 10:30 am!
God loves to help us see the goodness in each NEW day. 
She took a DEEP, GRATEFUL breath and thanked him because once again, he proves to be on her side with her cup of coffee in hand!

When it's rainy,writing occurs :)

There is something about a rainy day that stimulates a person to "play" with their inner creativity.
It's quite tantalizing and the energy that emerges is invigorating.
Finding yourself indoors, listening to the rain, noticing that outside becomes "still."
You find yourself happily lost...
Maybe it is a thought that goes off in your head, a picture that reminds you of your dreams, a memory that changed your life...
The trigger of stimulation on a rainy day is something to "capitalize" on!
Don't give into sleepiness, boredom, loneliness, laziness...
Capture those moments when they come.
The moments of inspiration, motivation, ideas etc... and get yourself LOST in them!
It's to wet outside anyway;)

Read with a child today By Sherri K.

Today's post is to encourage you to read with a child.
Parents, read with your child, to your child.
Create this habit at any age.
Be consistent and the rewards are bountiful.
If you are not a parent and would like to reap the same benefits, I encourage you to volunteer at your local library. Libraries all over the world have available space for you to hold a story time event. Check with them for details. You can also read to a friend's child... A simple phone call can turn into a child story time! Any amount of time you have to spare can brighten a child's day.

Living in America, there are so many different cultures.
We all share American traditions however, every culture has its own ways and traditions.
It is common for a person to live a life and only know of anything that has ever happened according to the way they live their life.
Today's book suggestion is to encourage you to take an interest in a different culture!
Compare your culture to someone of a different culture.
Exploring in this way can take you on an adventure to know or feel a part of a different culture without stepping foot out of your own space first.
Once you become familiar and become a part of the book you read via your feelings etc...you can then venture out to meet people of that culture, dine at a restaurant geared towards that culture and hey, if you can,  take a trip to their "neck of the woods."

There are vivid descriptions of famous places in Las Vegas and plenty of adventure that will keep you on your toes. 
I found it hard to put this fun book down.
It's not too long or too short.
In my opinion, Belinda Jones has created a book that can be great for a day of reading on the beach or a weekend "get-a-way"  in the comforts of your own atmosphere.

Reading has been proven to have life-long BENEFITS!

It is recommended that parents read with their baby, continue to read to them as they grow, let their children read to them, & carry this habit out into adulthood.

How often should one read?

DAILY.

Want to help make a difference in the world?

The next time you are with an elderly person, read something to them or read together.

You can keep it simple when reading to yourself or others.

A simple article can do, a magazine, a holy book, a blog (such as this one), a favorite book, an oldie or a newer series.

If you really want this to be a self-rewarding process, take a few moments and write something short. Write a poem, a joke, anything short.

Use this short-write you've written and READ this to your child or whomever...

When's the last time you got your DANCE on?

There is a whole lot of positivity in doing something that you enjoy or simply trying something new such as dancing.

When was the last time you danced the night away?
This leisurely activity can be misinterpreted for acting or looking like a fool to some.
However, dancing is a form of art and self expression.
There are many styles of dance.
I am no expert on dancing so, if there is anyone out there who cares to elaborate on the origin and forms etc... please do so below this text in the comments section.

Do you have a favorite style of dance?

Do you like sexy and unique like the icon, Beyonce
Soul, Belly, Latin or Ballroom to name a few.

What is your dance style?
I don't care what age you are, you can find pleasure in dancing.
You can identify your dance style.

Dancing can be simple or complex.
You can dance in your chair or up on your feet!
However you choose, give it an honest try.
Loosen up, kick back and have some fun.
Life should be enjoyed!
Dancing can relieve stress and make you feel good.

My Fourth of July By Sherri A. Kaylani

A small light has touched a heart. 

 Dancing back and forth in colors so brilliant. 

It has a blazing orange sparkle. 

Appearing transparent until it flows into a faint blue, another line of transparency and then it emerges with a burst of an orange color with a hint of pink.

It's a FLAME that ignites, and illuminates!

Warm to the touch. 

It causes "magic" to happen and a consistent emotion that urges pen to flow on paper. 

Similar to a soul that has been lost yet eventually finds its way.

Extinguished, no one to fuel its fire, a soul can easily loose momentum.

Searching for something to ignite it, finally there's a spark!

The light ignites. 

The soul gains momentum. 

Pulling itself from the depths of uncertainty. 

The "spark" is lit. 

The only way to shut it off is to let it be "blown" out but, why would you do that? 

Can't you see this spark? 

It's beautiful, bold colors emerging from deep within?

There is no room for fear. 

The warmth from within, it is the spirit that guides you! 

That warm feeling deep within, is a sign that what your doing is what your supposed to be doing. 

If it's writing, then watch out because the words, the letters, they come rapidly. 

They consume you and the outcome is exhilarating. 

If your supposed to be doing something else that's your cue...Your igniting! 

Stand your ground. 

Pour out.

 Your purpose awaits you. 

Eventually, the "light" will fade but it's your responsibility to let it do so only when appropriate. 

It's time to give the soul rest. 

The wax has melted but only does the light extinguish when its light has shined its brightest!

This one is for the TEACHERS!

I can recall a teacher who made a difference in my life!
She taught reverentially to all her students on a daily basis!
Her name, Mrs. Rhodes.
The care, concern, loyalty, compassion, & faith she placed in me helped to mold the person I have become!
She opened the pathway to my career and drilled in me that to get through life one thing we must do is,
"Use our time effectively!" That line has been embedded in my brain!
There are many times I find "procrastination" trying to supercede my thoughts of "using my time effectively!" however, when it all boils down to getting any job done,
her line pushes me and the results of my labors are OUTSTANDING! In every area of my life.
This is mainly thanks to this extraordinary teacher in my past!
( I am sure my English teachers would find that most of my sentences above are run-on, fragment, not proper, etc...,lol...)

With today being the last day of school for many children here in New Jersey, I'd like to dedicate this post to all of the phenomenal teachers out there!
Their job goes beyond the classroom. Work is brought home and worked on for hours even after they have "clocked out!"
The impact they have on their pupils can last a lifetime!
Be sure to show appreciation to teachers! Often times, they are the role models that go unnoticed or thanked!
